Here we are then, folks! The end of yet another week. This one brought with it a Fortnite lawsuit and a ridiculous Mario Kart Tour microtransaction pack, but with all that anger out of the way, it’s time to chill with some of our favourite games.
The Nintendo Life team have shared what we’ll be getting up to over the weekend and we’d love for you to get involved with our poll and comment sections, too. Enjoy!

I fear I am becoming a broken record but yes, Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina remain as the main course for this weekend along with slices of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Star Wars Pinball, Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition, the impeccable conversion of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock and the nostalgia-filled Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered. Harold Ramis, you are missed.
My game of the week is again not one but several – Trine: Ultimate Collection is a delightful package with a ton of content, especially for yours truly who only ever played the first two games and now has the divisive third entry and the brand new Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince to explore.

This weekend I intended to play Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, but as my copy of the game still hasn’t arrived, I’ll be falling back on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive of Age.
I’m also planning to spend some more time racing about in the free-to-download Switch title, Asphalt 9: Legends. The last time I actually played a game in this series was on the Nintendo DS, so I’m interested to see how much it has evolved since then. Apart from this, I might train up in the demo for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and try out the local multiplayer mode. That’s all for this weekend!

After the release of the Resident Evil 5 and 6 demos on the eShop, I’ll be checking out how these games hold up on the Switch. I’ve always enjoyed the over-the-top action of these titles (they’re fine, leave them alone!), so it’ll be quite a surreal experience to play them on the go. Here’s hoping Capcom finds some way to bring the Resident Evil 2 remake across too…
Other than that, I’ve got a pretty quiet weekend ahead. I’m not planning any major playthroughs of anything at the moment with The Witcher 3 on the horizon, and of course Luigi’s Mansion 3 at the end of the month. I may just default back to Mega Man Legacy Collection, as I always do when I’ve got nothing to play!

A couple of days ago I got around to beating Zelda: Link’s Awakening, finally reaching the credits and seeing how the story ended for the very first time. At first, I couldn’t decide whether or not to bother collecting all of the extras, but I’ve now decided to meet ‘yes, do it’ and ‘no, that’ll waste your time’ in the middle by hoovering them up quickly using our very own guide. Those last couple of Heart Pieces and seashells shall be mine!
If I finish that, I also have Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair waiting for me. There are more games releasing at the moment that I’m interested in playing than usual, so I’m currently going from one to the next with no breaks in between. Wish me luck!

Both Donut County and What Remains of Edith Finch have managed to find their way onto my Switch, although the chances that I’ll actually play them soon are slim. I’m assembling a collection of short and sweet games that could potentially be played to completion in a single sitting, but there’s always something else to distract me.
Last weekend I picked up the Sega Mega Drive Mini but didn’t find the time to really put it through its paces, so there’s that. All the Switch Online Super NES games are still waiting to be sampled, too. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those official wireless pads when they appeared earlier in the week, but €10 for postage pushed it into the realm of ‘sod that!’. There’s no shortage of superfluous plastic for me to be spending cash on. I still haven’t tracked down a Link’s Awakening amiibo…

This weekend I’m going to giving Game Freak’s unusual new take on the RPG formula – Little Town Hero – a proper spin. The RPG can be a tough sell for those who want shorter bursts of play, but LTH looks to address that conundrum with its creative approach to boss battles. Look out for my official verdict next week on Nintendo Life.
I’ve also been revisiting the original Yooka-Laylee so I imagine I’ll be finishing up some collectables before I inevitably cave and buy Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
