Mortal Kombat 11 is out, and from what we’ve gathered from the critics, it’s damn good (at least on PS4). However, despite the acclimation, one major critique has stood out, especially among fans. In order to unlock items from the Krypt, the game’s hub for gear and other accessories, it takes a lot of grind — far too much for many. Yesterday, during developer NetherRealm’s Kombat Kast, the team addressed the grind issue, promising a fix.
We’ve already gone over the Kast at some length. Admittedly, I did miss the Krypt fix announcement — I joined the show a little too late (my bad). During the cast, community manager Tyler Lansdown talked briefly about the complaints. Note that complaints are also surrounding the Tower of Time, a mode which is used for some progression. Fans and critics alike have called it out, saying it takes far too long to progress.
“We are continually optimizing Mortal Kombat 11 based on player feedback,” Lansdown said. “That said, we have seen that there some players who are struggling with progression in the Towers of Time and with the Krypt. So we do have a fix rolling out ASAP to address our players who are having those problems — to address balance, and address the awards you get from playing.”
Lansdown continued, explaining there are two ways for NetherRealm to deal with any issues. First, there is the standard patch, which players are required to download and install. The second is a method in which the team “tweaks” numbers. In other words, if an award hands out a certain amount of in-game currency, NetherRealm can bump the number to an amount better suited for quicker progression.
Grinding for skins has become a chore, and hopefully NetherRealm can ease the pain.
Koming Right Up
NetherRealm head honcho Ed Boon also chimed in on the concerns earlier today, and he brought good news. Apparently, the adjustment, whether it’s a hotfix or full patch, is expected very soon. In fact, the fix itself is expected not in weeks or days, but hours. It could even launch today.
MK11 PSA ?
In case you missed yesterday’s Kombat Kast: We have a hot fix/improvements koming to address those super hard Towers of Time as well as better rewards/economy to be used in the Krypt.
Hoping/expecting it’ll be more like HOURS than days.
Will keep you posted??

It’s a damn quick response, as far as patches go. Mortal Kombat 11 officially released on midnight, but it seems like it will end up a much better game before the day is out. Whether or not it goes the mile and actually makes the grind easier — or even fun — is at this moment unknown.
The game is currently being called out hard by players, saying that the grind and randomized loot chests count as a “predatory tactic.” And let’s not forget that NetherRealm already said there won’t be loot chests — except there kind of are. As it stands, to get the gear or consumables you want could take more than mere hours; apparently it could take days or longer, according to the community. Unless, of course, you spend some good, hard cash to purchase what you want. That, to put it mildly, is a tad bullshit. We’ll keep you updated on whether or not the fix can put the game back on the right path.
