TokenCon 2019 Preview

TokenCon 2019 will be October 4-6 in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City—The Oklahoma Board Game Community announces TokenCon, Oklahoma’s dedicated board game convention, will return for its second year in 2019. The convention will be held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, just north of the airport on Meridian avenue, in Oklahoma City on October 4-6, 2019.

TokenCon attendees will have access a library of well over 500 games, which they can freely check out and play during the convention. In addition, numerous vendors will be selling games, accessories, and other hobbyist supplies at the convention.

Activities throughout will appeal to board game enthusiasts of all experience levels. Teachers will be on hand to help recommend and teach games. A special “Hot Games” section will have the latest, most popular board game releases. And for more competitive players, TokenCon is hosting the official state championships for a number of games, with trophies, prizes, and entry to the 2020 regional championships.

All attendees will also get the chance to meet and play games with several special guests, including Seth Jaffee, designer of Eminent Domain and head of development for Tasty Minstrel Games, and Joel Eddy, host of the popular Drive Thru Games YouTube channel. They will also be able to participate in special events like panels, trivia, an escape room, play-to-win games, and much more.

“We had incredibly positive feedback from the first TokenCon last year,” said TokenCon director Mike Dattolo. “But the overwhelming response was to bring more of everything. So we’ve added an extra day, expanded the open gaming and vendor space, and invited more special guests, all for the same price as last year.”

TokenCon is limited to 400-500 total attendees. Standard tickets are $50 for a weekend pass, which includes admission to all 3 days, a cloth swag bag, a free board game, and full access to all areas of the convention. VIP tickets are $75, and in addition to standard ticket features, also include a special, limited edition t-shirt and other extras. Tickets and further information are available online at

I (Nick S.) had the opportunity to attend TokenCon in 2018 and cannot recommend it enough. You can read my TokenCon 2018 recap here.
